Council and Fuyang City sign Friendship City Agreement

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has today signed a Friendship City Agreement on behalf of Council with Fuyang City, China.

Council hosted a delegation from Fuyang City led by Mayor, Fang Xu for the special ceremony held at the Nowra Administration Building.

The delegation also received a further overview of the Shoalhaven and took the opportunity to discuss potential business opportunities within the local area.

Local businesses including Australia’s Oyster Coast, GHD Engineering, the South Coast and Highlands Dairy Industry Group and the South Coast Dairy Industry also provided brief presentations outlining the opportunity for investment.

Mayor, Joanna Gash said the delegation was the third visit between the two cities in the past 12 months.

The Mayor said the Friendship City Agreement represented another significant milestone in the growing union between the two Cities.

“Council was extremely honoured to be able to host Mayor, Fang Xu for today’s signing of the Friendship City Agreement,” said Clr Gash.

“While Fuyang City has a far greater population than the Shoalhaven both areas share a natural beauty, diversity of industry and growing economy.

“Today’s meeting also allowed both organisations to further discuss the potential to collaborate on a number of business projects.”

“Council organised a number of short presentations to outline potential investment opportunities in the local dairy and seafood industries.”

“Following discussions, the delegation also made it very clear that they would welcome and assist with any local Shoalhaven business looking to open up in China.”
