Currarong Jetty completed

Council completes new walkway jetty at Currarong Boat Ramp

Shoalhaven City Council has completed construction works on the new walkway jetty at the Currarong Boat Ramp.

Construction on the facility faced a number of hurdles with Council’s contractor forced to work around king tides and subsequent ocean surge.

Mayor, Joanna Gash said the new precast concrete walkway would provide local residents and visitors with a high quality and safe boat launching facility in the popular fishing location.

“It is extremely pleasing to see the completion of this exciting new walkway jetty at the popular Currarong Boat Ramp,” said Clr Gash.

“The completed jetty will provide the community with a high quality 23 metre long walkway jetty capable of providing a safe launching point for boats.

“Given that Currarong is an extremely popular destination and launching spot for local fisherman and boating enthusiasts I am sure this new facility will prove to be an extremely well utilised public amenity throughout the summer months.”

“I would like to thank Council’s local contractor, Ferncroft Rural Contracting on their efforts in working late at night during periods of low tide to ensure the project was completed to a high standard.”

“I am very much looking forward to testing out this new facility on my next fishing trip in this picturesque part of the Shoalhaven.”
