Draft LEP 2009 – adopted by Council

Council adopts draft SLEP for

re-exhibition

Shoalhaven City Council has adopted the draft Shoalhaven Local Environment Plan for re-exhibition following Thursday’s Extra Ordinary meeting.

The adoption signals the end of the submission report process after Councillors considered each of the 3,000 plus submissions received throughout last year’s extensive draft SLEP exhibition process.

Each of the issues raised in the submissions formed part of 50 separate reports heard at 29 Special Development Committee meetings.

As a result of this lengthy process, a number of changes have been made to the draft SLEP.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said to enable re-exhibition of the plan, Council will submit the draft document to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure for their approval.

“Council began holding Special Development Committee meetings in March and while it has been a lengthy process it has been of the upmost importance that Councillors give their full attention to each report and submission” said Clr Green.

“Council has considered each of the 3,000 submissions received throughout the exhibition period and the 50 separate reports that have come before the Special Development Committees.

“Now the initial review process is completed, Council will submit the document and maps with the recent changes to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure for their approval.

“Once this has been granted, the draft SLEP will be re-exhibited for a further 28 day period.”

Mayor, Green said it was likely that the 28 day re-exhibition will occur later in the year.
