Nowra Culburra SLSC clubhouse extensions to begin
Shoalhaven City Council will provide additional funding of $192,000 towards the first stage of the upcoming Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Clubhouse extensions after tender results came in well above available funding.
Once completed the refurbished clubhouse will feature a second level, additional boat storage areas and provision for future amenities including a bar and kitchen.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said the project will provide members of the Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Club with a much improved facility.
“It goes without saying that our volunteer lifesavers provide the Shoalhaven with a tremendous service right throughout the warmer months,” said Clr Green.
“I’m very excited to be able to provide the members of the Nowra Culburra Surf Club with
additional funding to assist in the refurbishment of their clubhouse.”
“I wish the Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Club all the best with their extensions and for the upcoming patrol season which kicks off this weekend right across the Shoalhaven.”
Councillor Green said the funding announcement would provide tremendous benefits to all the community groups who currently utilise the facility.
“I know there are a lot of fitness groups, school groups and other community programs who take advantage of this wonderful facility,” said Clr Green.
“The funding announcement will provide flow on benefits to all of those who use this community asset.”
The Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Club has received a $300,000 funding grant through the Australian Government Regional Community Local Infrastructure Program to assist with the extensions.
Local contractors Ablock builders have been engaged to carry out the refurbishment.
